Tsunami informático en los centros de salud de Madrid. Computer tsunami in Madrid's health centres
It was much worse than we had imagined. The new electronic prescription module slowed down the medical clinic, making it extremely painful. Any procedure that will involve prescribing involved computer crashes, errors, frozen screens, endless waiting times and countless incidences. The doctors became crazy looking at the blank screens of their computers and the patients also did not understand why their lifelong doctor barely looked at his face and became more and more nervous.
My assessment of yesterday family medicine clinic in the Community of Madrid: a disaster.
1. Sensation of professional torture by a computer system that does not meet a minimum quality.
2. Consciousness of danger of the possible failures of security of the patient when doctors were forced to pay more attention and energy to a computer program than to the complex reality of many patients. 3. Shame for the bad management of those responsible for this implementation. Why didn't they copy the integration of prescriptions between hospitals and health from other places where it has been working perfectly for years"
Some suggestions:
1. Optimize the capacity of the database servers.
2. Improve the system design.
3. Dedicate adequate resources to correct incidents and problems.
4. Evaluate the current crisis and establish a contingency plan and a continuous public evaluation.
5. Ask Rafael Cubà for help (he successfully implemented the same process in Catalonia).
I am sorry ...
